AQUATIC & MARGINAL PLANTS
A
water feature introduces movement into the garden and creates
a tranquil atmosphere. Careful choice of aquatic plants can
greatly enhance not only the visual appeal of a water feature,
but will encourage a wide range of native species of wildlife
such as dragonflies.
Aquatic plants are fairly easy to look after,
but as most are vigorous plants, will need thinning periodically.
Trimmings make useful additions to your compost heap but
should never be disposed of in natural ponds or rivers (whether
indigenous or not) due to their sometimes invasive nature.
MARGINAL
PLANTS
These soften the edge of your pond and make
useful hiding places for wildlife.
A range of both aquatic and marginal plants
are available in spring and summer.
