House & Indoor Plants
Nothing says ‘Home’ like a well-placed Houseplant. Whether it’s the finishing touch or a dramatic focal point – we have them all here.
Our Houseplant Department is an amazing space filled with lush greenery, masses of Cacti and Succulents, Bonsai, seasonal plants and of course our eye-candy Orchids and other gorgeous flowering plants.
Many plants bring incredible air purifying qualities to the home, increasing your well-being by filtering toxins from the very air you breathe.
It must be remembered that all indoor plants are outdoor plants in their native country, where they have the correct light, air and humidity for success. Our greenhouse provides the nearest equivalent and it important that you choose a plant for the environment in your home to ensure it flourishes.
Indoor House Plants – Do’s and Don’t’s
A successful and happy houseplant is placed in the correct light level and humidity.
- Watch the watering – remember, most houseplants are killed with kindness; let the plant dry out a little between watering and if using a pot cover, always use some drainage in the bottom to ensure plants aren’t over watered.
- As a general rule, if your houseplant has variegated or highly coloured leaves, it will need more light (but not direct sunlight) than it’s plain green cousins.
- Follow a plant’s individual requirements – shade lovers will not flourish on a sunny window sill whereas ferns would flourish in the humidity of a bathroom.
- See our ‘Secrets for Success’ displays with our plants or ask our experts who will set you up with the perfect plant companion.
