Hydrangeas

With their enormous, show-stopping blossoms, Hydrangeas exude a timeless elegance that’s simply irresistible! These floral beauties put on a dazzling display of colours—ranging from vivid pinks and crystal-clear blues to frosty whites, soft lavenders, and rich rose tones. Incredibly, some plants boast multiple hues at once, creating a mesmerizing spectacle in any garden.

Hydrangeas come in three stunning floral formations: the iconic Mophead, with its lush, pom-pom-like blooms; the delicate Lacecap, featuring a flat-centered arrangement surrounded by dainty petals; and the majestic Panniculata, known for its large, conical clusters of white flowers that glow beautifully in the sunlight.

Hydrangea Care

To ensure your Hydrangeas thrive, plant them between early spring and autumn. Choose a sheltered spot where they are protected from harsh winds and the intense afternoon sun — an eastern-facing location is ideal, offering morning light and afternoon shade.

For breathtaking blooms, good drainage is essential. Enrich the soil with plenty of organic matter and a slow-release, all-purpose fertiliser to give your Hydrangeas a powerful start. With the right care, these enchanting plants will reward you with a spectacular floral show season after season!

When planting Hydrangeas in the summer, it is essential to provide ample water to help establish a strong root system. Most varieties thrive in full sun to partial shade, provided they are planted in nutrient-rich, well-moistened soil.

For optimal growth, water deeply once per week, increasing frequency during periods of extreme heat or drought.

Soil pH plays a crucial role in determining the bloom colour of pink and blue Hydrangea varieties. In alkaline soils, applying a Hydrangea colorant can help maintain vibrant blue blooms.
